Women in Technology (WIT) Announces Winners of the 2022 Women of the Year Awards in STEAM

WIT Awards celebrates women in STEAM who live in the state of Georgia for their accomplishments as leaders in business, visionaries, and women who make a difference in their communities. Additionally, a special high school girl is recognized as the Girl of The Year, a campus club as the Campus Club of the Year Award, and a single mom with the Single Mother of The Year Award.

One winner from each of the following categories was selected and announced at this event:

Woman of the Year in Engineering Winner:
Shobha Shivaiah
Sr. Manager, Software Development at Amazon

Woman of the Year Arts Winner:
Ricole Harbin
Production 3D Designer at Belgard

Woman of the Year Mathematics Winner:
Leah Jones
Chief Financial Officer at Allscripts

Woman of the Year STEAM Education Winner:
Sweta Sneha
Founder & Executive Director at Kennesaw State University

Woman to Watch Winner:
Necole Jackson-DeJoie
Global Senior Director & Tribe Lead at BCG

Build Her Up Winner:
Grant Shih
Chief Information Officer at NDCP

Single Mother of the Year Winner:
Jazmen Whitaker

Girl of the Year Winner:
Alina Vennel
Innovation Academy High School

Campus Club of the Year Winner:
Georgia Gwinnet College

Volunteer of the Year Winner:
Danielle Hall
Vice President of IT, Backoffice and Operational Applications at International Market Centers

WIT announced a new scholarship this year for the Campus Club of the Year. This award was created in 2022 as part of WIT’s commitment to support an entire club’s efforts around careers in STEAM. The Campus Club of the Year award recognizes a campus club that has demonstrated a strong effort in exposing its members to science, technology, engineering, arts or math, that fully embodies the overall mission of WIT, that is inclusive and encouraging to others, and that has created a lasting and positive impression on WIT Campus sponsors, the WIT Office and WIT Volunteers.
