Even though the real estate practice of Goggans, Stutzman, Hudson, Wilson & Mize, LLP was only launched a year ago, the firm has quickly established four offices in Georgia, three in the greater Atlanta area and one in Columbus, and continues to welcome new lawyers to help their growing client roster.
In December 2021, Eli Gershon and Drew Wharton joined GSHWM’s team. Both recently passed the State Bar of Georgia and work with a variety of clients in Georgia and nationally, including residential real estate agents, builders, and developers.
Eli Gershon, born and raised in Atlanta, graduated from Emory University in 2017 and obtained his J.D. from the Georgia State University College of Law in 2021, where he received the Catherine Henson Law Scholarship. During law school, Eli served as a Graduate Research Assistant to Professor Jack F. Williams, and also interned with the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. He continues to volunteer with the Emory Admissions Office as an Alumni Admissions interviewer.
Drew Wharton graduated from Berry College in 2016, where he was a national participant in Model UN. He graduated from Mercer University Law School in 2021, where he was a member of the Law Review and served as its Administrative Editor for Volume 72. A member of the Phi Delta Phi honor society, Drew also participated in the Animal Legal Defense Fund, and found time to assume the duties of Vice President of the International Law Student’s Association at Mercer University.
“We are delighted to welcome these bright, accomplished young lawyers to our firm and are confident that they will help propel GSHWM as we are meeting the needs of today’s fast-paced real estate markets,” said Vanessa Goggans, Managing Partner.
GSHWM offers responsive, cost-effective, high-quality representation in all areas and types of real estate transactions, including residential and commercial real estate closings, construction loan closings, acquisition and development loan closings, affordable housing development, commercial leasing, regulatory compliance, buyer and seller representation, contract reviews, title insurance and the creation of subdivisions and condominiums. The firm also represents governmental entities, non-profits, and housing authorities as well as private and publicly held equity funds in the single-family rental market space, including in asset acquisition, disposition and securitization, property management, default services as well as litigation related to property and asset management, and is actively involved in the build-to-rent market in analyzing and drafting covenants and restrictions best suited for the market.
