Out of an abundance of caution and concern about rising COVID-19 cases in Atlanta, Live Thrive is moving its A CHaRM’ing Adventure fundraiser outdoors! The event will now take place in Zoo Atlanta’s spectacular Ford Pavilion.
Relocating the event to a larger, outdoor space will allow for appropriate social distancing measures. Attendance for the event will be capped at 50% of the pavilion’s capacity. Live Thrive is working with the City of Atlanta to adhere to guidelines that include a mask requirement for entry into the zoo, indoor spaces and restrooms. Masks are strongly encouraged throughout the event.
“Gathering safely is our top priority, and we are fortunate that Zoo Atlanta offers an outdoor event option,” said Peggy Whitlow Ratcliffe, executive director, Live Thrive. “The Ford Pavilion combines the benefits of fresh, circulating air and weather coverage from the spacious tent. We think it’s the perfect solution for this year’s fundraiser.”
A CHaRM’ing Adventure, a fundraiser hosted by Live Thrive and Delta Air Lines, takes place on Thursday, Oct. 7 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Funds raised from the event help cover the costs of operating the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM), Atlanta’s only permanent drop-off facility for materials too harmful for the curb.
In addition to offering the opportunity to enjoy views of the zoo’s animal inhabitants on the way to the tent, including Mumbles the white rhino, the event features a live performance by Yacht Rock Revue, the Greatest Show on Surf and the finest tribute to ‘70s light rock to ever perform anywhere. This next-level outdoor adventure will be paired with heavy hors d’oeuvres from Proof of the Pudding, as well as beer and wine.
Tickets are on sale now for this event that supports the Atlanta-based center that has diverted more than 100 million tons of chemicals, paints, electronics and more from the city’s water system and landfills since opening in 2015.
