Jay Kahn, who led Georgia State to record fundraising heights, will step down as vice president of University Advancement and president of the Georgia State Foundation effective May 1. He will join the University of Oklahoma Foundation in a new leadership role.
Since his arrival in 2020, Kahn oversaw the three highest years of fundraising in the university’s history, including a single-year record of more than $107 million in fiscal year 2022. The university also set records for donations from local and national corporations and foundations, and for funds raised for new scholarships and programmatic support.
Under his leadership, the university foundation’s endowment has grown by approximately 30 percent with total assets at the foundation reaching record levels. In addition, Georgia State has seen significant increases in individual giving and student support.
As the university’s chief development officer, Kahn helped to bring in some of the largest gifts in university history.
“Jay has been an incredible partner to me, the Foundation Board of Trustees and the entire university community,” said Georgia State President M. Brian Blake. “His leadership has been integral for our fundraising, in forging industry partnerships and for our real estate and economic development projects.”
Kahn led the 90-person staff in University Advancement through many improved processes, including better analytics, data and metrics reporting, and a migration to a new customer relationship management platform.
