With over 550,000 Afghans displaced since the beginning of this year, Helping Mamas, Georgia’s sole baby supply bank, is gathering supplies to create welcome kits for Atlanta’s Afghan refugee community. In partnership with New American Pathways, Refugee Women’s Network and Welcoming Atlanta, Helping Mamas is committed to helping those displaced in the Atlanta community.
“It is wonderful to be able to utilize our network to help refugee families,” said Jamie Lackey, CEO and founder of Helping Mamas. “With so many displaced children and mothers in our area, it is important for us to help those in need.”
Helping Mamas is collecting items through an Amazon registry, where donors can purchase items that go directly to supporting Atlanta’s Afghan refugee community. Items needed include hygiene supplies for men, women and children, as well as comfort items such as blankets and soft toys.
Through their warehouse in Norcross, Helping Mamas provides critical baby supply items and necessary period care products. They have served over 120,000 children and have distributed over three million essential baby supply items to families in need.
