A Halloween event that honors the life of a Dunwoody woman is on a mission to raise $90,000 this year for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
Emily’s Trick or Treat is set for Saturday, Oct. 23, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Sandy Springs.
The event was created to honor Emily Moore, who fought colitis for half her life. In 2017, at age 35, Emily passed away following a battle with appendiceal cancer.
“Emily had an incredible, magnetic personality and tons of friends who want to celebrate her life. She also happened to love Halloween,” said Dunwoody resident and “Em’s Crew” member Stacey Rothberg. “We put all of those things together to create this event.”
Since Emily’s Trick or Treat started, it has already raised more than $250,000 for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
While tickets for this year’s Emily’s Trick or Treat have sold out, people are still encouraged to help the cause. An online silent auction launched today, and anyone is invited to donate.
Allison Boaz, a member of Em’s crew and a Brookhaven resident, said the annual event also gives Moore’s two children, Hallie and Jordan, a legacy to carry on for their mother “that makes everybody smile and keeps her memory relevant.”
