GA Regional Commissions See All-Time Low Unemployment Rates

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that all 12 regional commissions in the state recorded all-time low unemployment rates.

“We are seeing the highest number of employed Georgians in our state’s history,” said Commissioner Mark Butler. “Looking towards the new year, our focus is on attracting more people to join the workforce in 2022.”

The labor force saw an increase in Atlanta Regional Commission, Coastal GA, GA Mountains, Middle GA, Northeast GA, Northwest GA, and Three Rivers.

Employment was up in all GA regional commissions.

Atlanta Regional Commission – Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale counties.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down three-tenths to 2.2 percent o-t-m, the rate was 6.0 percent one year ago.
The labor force was up 11,154 o-t-m and up 41,424 o-t-y, to 2,474,781.
The number of employed was up 17,798 o-t-m and up 130,890 o-t-y, to 2,419,435.
The number of employed was an all-time high.
Initial claims were down 2,970 (-29%) o-t-m and down 41,043 (-85%) o-t-y, to 7,434.
Initial claims were down o-t-m in Construction and Accommodation and Food Services, and down o-t-y in Administrative and Support Services and Accommodation and Food Services.
There were 75,296 jobs posted on Employ Georgia.

Central Savannah River Regional Commission – Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Jenkins, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington, and Wilkes counties.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down three-tenths to 2.5 percent o-t-m, the rate was 5.2 percent one year ago.
The labor force was down 460 o-t-m and down 3,721 o-t-y, to 207,614.
The number of employed was up 95 o-t-m and up 2,094 o-t-y, to 202,410.
Initial claims were down 170 (-17%) o-t-m and down 2,820 (-77%) o-t-y, to 830.
Initial claims were down o-t-m in Administrative and Support Services and Retail Trade, and down o-t-y in Health Care and Social Assistance and Accommodation and Food Services.
There were 5,194 jobs posted on Employ Georgia.

Coastal Georgia Regional Commission – Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, and Screven counties.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down two-tenths to 2.2 percent o-t-m, the rate was 5.2 percent one year ago.
The labor force was up 1,348 o-t-m and up 5,825 o-t-y, to 344,534.
The number of employed was up 2,149 o-t-m and up 16,145 o-t-y, to 337,121.
The number of employed was an all-time high.
Initial claims were down 270 (-23%) o-t-m and down 5,890 (-87%) o-t-y, to 883.
Initial claims were down o-t-m in Administrative and Support Services and Health Care and Social Assistance, and down o-t-y in Accommodation and Food Services and Manufacturing.
There were 8,976 jobs posted on Employ Georgia.

Georgia Mountains Regional Commission – Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down one-tenth to 1.7 percent o-t-m, the rate was 3.4 percent one year ago.
The labor force was up 850 o-t-m and up 7,201 o-t-y, to 361,841.
The number of employed was up 1,459 o-t-m and up 13,413 o-t-y, to 355,847.
The number of employed was an all-time high.
Initial claims were down 79 (-10%) o-t-m, and down 3,715 (-84%) o-t-y, to 689.
Initial claims were down o-t-m in Construction and Accommodation and Food Services, and down o-t-y in Health Care and Social Assistance and Accommodation and Food Services.
There were 3,552 jobs posted on Employ Georgia.

Heart of Georgia – Altamaha Regional Commission – Appling, Bleckley, Candler, Dodge, Emanuel, Evans, Jeff Davis, Johnson, Laurens, Montgomery, Tattnall, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Wayne, Wheeler, and Wilcox counties.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down three-tenths to 2.4 percent o-t-m, the rate was 5.0 percent one year ago.
The labor force was down 201 o-t-m and down 3,178 o-t-y, to 116,454.
The number of employed was up 144 o-t-m and down 25 o-t-y, to 113,672.
Initial claims were down 61 (-8%) o-t-m, and down 1,644 (-71%) o-t-y, to 664.
Initial claims were down o-t-m in Administrative and Support Services and Mining, and down o-t-y in Health Care and Social Assistance and Accommodation and Food Services.

Middle Georgia Regional Commission – Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Houston, Jones, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam, Twiggs, and Wilkinson counties.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down four-tenths to 2.3 percent o-t-m, the rate was 5.3 percent one year ago.
The labor force was up 425 o-t-m and up 1,242 o-t-y, to 222,746.
The number of employed was up 1,433 o-t-m and up 7,818 o-t-y, to 217,690.
Initial claims were down 1,395 (-60%) o-t-m and down 2,913 (-76%) o-t-y, to 921.
Initial claims were down o-t-m in Construction and Accommodation and Food Services, and down o-t-y in Trade and Accommodation and Food Services.

Northeast Georgia Regional Commission – Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Greene, Jackson, Jasper, Madison, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, and Walton counties.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down two-tenths to 1.9 percent o-t-m, the rate was 4.4 percent one year ago.
The labor force was up 881 o-t-m and up 4,153 o-t-y, to 314,770.
The number of employed was up 1,619 o-t-m and up 11,868 o-t-y, to 308,775.
The number of employed was an all-time high.
Initial claims were down 255 (-26%) o-t-m and down 4,276 (-86%) o-t-y, to 718.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down two-tenths to 1.9 percent o-t-m, the rate was 4.2 percent one year ago.
The labor force was up 627 o-t-m and up 5,711 o-t-y, to 424,547.
The number of employed was up 1,654 o-t-m and up 15,223 o-t-y, to 416,555.
The number of employed was an all-time high.
Initial claims were down 392 (-26%) o-t-m and down 7,385 (-87%) o-t-y, to 1,147.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down eight-tenths to 2.8 percent o-t-m, the rate was 6.2 percent one year ago.
The labor force was down 507 o-t-m and down 2,098 o-t-y, to 144,602.
The number of employed was up 680 o-t-m and up 2,850 o-t-y, to 140,507.
Initial claims were down 2,364 (-76%) o-t-m and down 2,769 (-78%) o-t-y, to 765.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down three-tenths to 2.1 percent o-t-m, the rate was 4.6 percent one year ago.
The labor force was down 249 o-t-m and down 2,430 o-t-y, to 181,830.
The number of employed was up 311 o-t-m and up 2,284 o-t-y, to 178,074.
Initial claims were down 563 (-55%) o-t-m and down 2,862 (-86%) o-t-y, to 470.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down three-tenths to 2.5 percent o-t-m, the rate was 5.5 percent one year ago.
The labor force was down 422 o-t-m and down 5,276 o-t-y, to 144,694.
The number of employed was up 74 o-t-m and down 636 o-t-y, to 141,104.
Initial claims were down 290 (-30%) o-t-m and down 2,081 (-76%) o-t-y, to 667.

The November preliminary unemployment rate was down three-tenths to 2.1 percent o-t-m, the rate was 5.3 percent one year ago.
The labor force was up 871 o-t-m and up 3,487 o-t-y, to 252,632.
The number of employed was up 1,576 o-t-m and up 11,276 o-t-y, to 247,314.
Initial claims were down 441 (-36%) o-t-m and down 4,929 (-87%) o-t-y, to 772.
