On Tuesday, one of the coldest days of the year, a Daimler-Thomas Built Jouley™ all-electric, Class C school bus will be open for tours, with the heater on (!) and zero emissions, as representatives from Peach State Trucks highlight the safety, cost savings and environmental benefits of going electric with pupil transportation.
Public Service Commission Vice Chairman Tim Echols, representatives of Peach State Trucks and Daimler-Thomas will showcase and provide ongoing presentations of the iconic yellow, Saf-T-Liner® C2 Jouley™ electric bus. It offers up to 134-mile operating range, with a 220 Kwh battery, and a recharging time of 2-3 hours at a DC charging station.
The Jouley™ offers ultra-safe design, with innovative technologies including on-board telematics and system monitoring, quiet ride and big savings on fuel and maintenance costs over the traditional diesel bus. With 295 peak horsepower, the bus accelerates from 0-60 in 49 seconds giving the driver confidence to merge into traffic.
The bus will be on display from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2021 on Mitchell Street between the Georgia State Capitol and Coverdell Legislative Office Building (CLOB).
*Note this area is blocked off for thru traffic. Pedestrian traffic only.
“I am excited to host this electric school bus for legislators and others to see,” said Commissioner Echols. “EV school buses represent a chance to use Georgia-made electricity to power emissions-free transportation for our children.”
