Kuo Diedrich Chi Receives Two Honors From Golf Inc. Magazine for Best New Amenities In 2022

Kuo Diedrich Chi Architects is kicking off its 20th anniversary with two honors from Golf Inc. Magazine, including first place in Golf Inc.’s Best New Amenities in the Private Club Renovation category for Reynolds Lake Oconee-Richland Pointe in Greensboro, Georgia, as well as second place in Golf Inc.’s Best New Amenities in the Public Facility category for The Ritz-Carlton Family Pool and Kids Club, also at Reynolds Lake Oconee.

Each year, Golf Inc. recognizes the top clubhouse amenities in private and public new construction and renovations. This is Kuo Diedrich Chi’s fourth Best New Amenities recognition since the beginning of 2021 following their success with redesigns at BelfairForest Lake Club and Lake Toxaway Country Club.

Situated on nine miles of lake frontage in the heart of Lake Oconee, Richland Pointe is poised to be the Southeast’s next favorite waterfront neighborhood. Clubhouse management at Reynolds Lake Oconee-Richland Pointe approached Kuo Diedrich Chi to redefine the traditional lake lifestyle with modern and luxurious amenities that featured breathtaking views of the lake for its members/residents.

“Richland Pointe is truly a cutting-edge lake community and the clubhouse reflects that in its layout catering towards the next generation. We worked to ensure the landscape and setting were in harmony with our lake inspired design,” noted Mark Diedrich, principal – Kuo Diedrich Chi Architects.

The 35-acre village boasts an 11,000-square-foot state-of-the-art wellness and fitness center, containing five exercise rooms with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, while a yoga lawn and resort-like infinite pool complete the exterior of this oasis.

The clubhouse interiors were designed by ai3 of Atlanta, Georgia, with landscape design by LandDesign. The general contractor for construction was Brasfield & Gorrie. More photos of the Richland Pointe renovation can be found here.

Construction of KDC’s designs for the community at Richland Pointe wrapped up last summer, which had an immediate and significant impact on the Club’s membership. Since the debut of Richland Pointe’s showstopping amenities, Platinum memberships, which grant members access to the new wellness center, rose approximately 20%.

In addition to its first place win for best new amenities in the private category, KDC also secured a second place finish for best new amenities in the public facility category. Boasting resort-style amenities with KDC’s award-winning aesthetics is The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee. Golf Inc. recognized KDC’s work on The Ritz-Carlton Family Pool and Ritz Kids Clubhouse.

Wood + Partners, Inc. and the KDC team created a playful family pool complex, including a zero-entry pool and Splash Shack, to meet the growing demand for family-friendly destinations at the resort.

“This exciting project presented the opportunity to create a family-friendly recreation destination,” said Todd Theodore, Principal at Wood + Partners, Inc., the landscape design firm responsible for the project’s construction. “The new facility was designed to be nature blending and was carefully tucked into the hillside overlooking Lake Oconee.”

“The goal of the design team was to create a playful yet insulated haven that is complementary to the existing Ritz-Carlton amenities. With its Lake Oconee-inspired design vernacular and its premium overlook location, the Family Pool Complex is a new destination for the young and young at heart,” added Howard Kuo AIA, principal in charge of the project.

In addition, KDC designed a 3,000-square-foot Ritz Kids Clubhouse, consisting of an arcade and recreational space for creative activities.

“Family connections are at the heart of The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee and through the creation of the Family Pool and Ritz Kids Clubhouse, Kuo Diedrich Chi Architects has played an integral role in shaping these memories and traditions for generations to come,” said Ralph Vick, General Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee.
