Atlanta Apartment Association Celebrates Culmination of Annual Food-A-Thon this Friday

WHAT:

This Friday, the Atlanta Apartment Association (AAA) will ring in the end of its yearly Food-A-Thon with a festive celebration at the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s new facility. From 10 a.m. to noon, participating companies are invited to swing by a cheerful line of association volunteers and board members and drop off donations collected throughout the campaign, with all contributions benefiting the Food Bank.

Due to utmost COVID-19 precaution, this year’s Food-A-Thon will not feature its normal celebratory parade and block party, but rather members will be invited to an enthusiastic drive-thru to drop off their donations. Companies must combine donations into one car or float and all team members are required to remain in the car or float while wearing masks. The beloved parade and block party will return in full force next year.

AAA’s partnership with the Food Bank dates back to 1987 and has only continued to grow over the years. Last year, the apartment association raised over $909,000 and collected over 93,000 pounds of food through the Food-A-Thon and Can Can Ball, another annual fundraiser benefiting the Food Bank. In total, this amounted to over 6 million meals for Georgians in need. Over the 34-year partnership, AAA’s Food-A-Thon has generated more than 124 million meals for the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

AAA’s President Jim Fowler and the Food Bank’s President and CEO Kyle Waide will be onsite and available for interviews.
