Partnership Against Domestic Violence (PADV), Georgia’s largest non-profit working to end the crime of intimate partner violence, is proud to announce that Dr. Yamma Brown will be its 33rd annual Hearts with Hope Gala Chair. Brown is not only a clinical pharmacist, but also the youngest daughter of music icon James Brown. The Hearts with Hope Gala will take place on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the InterContinental Hotel in Buckhead and is the organization’s largest annual fundraising event.
Dr. Brown is transparent about her history with domestic violence after witnessing her father’s abuse as a child and enduring domestic violence as an adult. As a survivor, she has become a sought-after speaker and advocate for ending domestic violence. Dr. Brown has helped cultivate healthy relationships in the communities PADV serves, making her an ideal and passionate chair to lead the Hearts with Hope Gala.

Dr. Brown is a graduate of the University of Maryland and earned a Doctorate in Pharmacy from Mercer University. With more than 20 years of experience working as a clinical pharmacist, Dr. Brown delivers health outreach programs to underserved communities. In addition, she is vice president of the James Brown Family Foundation, CEO of Daughter of Soul Productions and author of “Cold Sweat: My Father James Brown and Me.”
During the Gala, PADV will celebrate the success of survivors who bravely rebuilt their lives. One survivor will be awarded PADV’s Purple Heart Award, paying tribute to the empowerment, courage and determination she used to transform her life.
