The American Transaction Processors Coalition (ATPC) selected 12 participants from seven member organizations to participate in the 2021 Future Leaders Program. Class participants represent a breadth of experience and roles among some of the world’s largest leaders in the payment processing industry, including NCR, FIS, Deluxe, Elavon, SpeedChain, Mastercard and Fiserv.

The Future Leaders Program identifies and educates rising professionals primed to lead the payments processing industry across technological, institutional, business development and workforce portfolios. This six-month program is comprised of multiple networking and educational activities to enhance future success of young professionals affiliated with ATPC member and sponsor companies. Because the ATPC is a government relations and economic development organization that supports the payments processing industry visibility and growth, the Future Leaders Program focuses on expanding industry knowledge, creating onramps to government and regulatory engagement, and developing leadership skills.

West Richards. “These payment processing professionals truly represent the best and the brightest of the industry and I look forward to witnessing their success within the program and following their careers upon its completion.”
This year, ATPC is expanding the Future Leaders curriculum to four classes over a period of six months. The first class will take place in Atlanta in August and will cover the “Art of Mentoring.” Participants will learn best practices for identifying and leveraging mentors.
The second class, “Government 101,” will take place in September as part of the ATPC’s annual Capitol Hill Fly-In and Q3 Board of Directors meeting in Washington, D.C. Participants will learn how government impacts the payments processing industry and best practices for participating in legislative and regulatory dialogues. The Future Leaders will also join ATPC members the next day during a presentation to educate members of Congress and regulators about the positive impact the payments processing industry has on the American economy.
The “Leadership 101” class takes place in November, offering participants insights into the tools and resources necessary to grow within their companies and the industry. Topics will include: diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI); business ethics; workplace communication; and project management (among others).
The final class, “Technical Expertise,” will explore how the industry functions today leading into the future. A graduation ceremony in Atlanta will follow the last program in December.
