The Atlanta Botanical Garden has named Noel Barnes its new Chief Financial Officer.
Barnes, who has served as the nonprofit Garden’s interim CFO for several months, brings a wealth of finance and operational leadership to the position, spanning more than 25 years in both the nonprofit and for-profit worlds.
“Noel has proven his professionalism and high-skill level as well as being a delight to work with,” said Mary Pat Matheson, the Garden’s President & CEO.
In his new position, Barnes will oversee a $36 million operations budget at a transformative time when the Garden is engaged in a $150 million capital campaign for expanding the Midtown attraction north by nearly 8 acres to the Atlanta Beltline.
Barnes previously served as Strategic Business Advisor and partner with B2B CFO, providing advisory services to small and mid-size privately held for-profit and nonprofit businesses for developing efficient and effective financial systems.
Before that, he served for three years as CFO of Canterbury Court, a full-service senior living community in Atlanta, following six years as CFO of the Woodruff Arts Center, the country’s third largest arts center.
In addition, Barnes has worked with early-stage private equity-backed international software companies as Chief Administrative and Financial Officer for Edge Capital Partners LLC.
Barnes also is active in the business community, including serving as board chair of Leadership Perimeter, a professional organization that provides strategic leadership development in the central Perimeter area.
